“Vision without action is just a dream, action without vision just passes the time, and vision with action can change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela’s quote was inspirational to the world and should be part of a leader’ mantra.
For leaders… a vision without action is unachievable. In fact, it becomes more of a dream, a hope, and a wish.
Action is what makes your vision a reality.
It starts with your personal and professional vision and the actions that correspond to making it happen, in order to achieve the results you want. How you align your personal and professional vision and choose to act equally on these, will help you to achieve the success you desire.
How do you strive to achieve your vision?
- Take a week to record your personal and professional actions, including home and work, plus the weekend.
- Then, identify those actions that are aligned with your personal and professional vision and those that are not.
This is a great place to develop a plan of action towards making your vision a reality and altering or eliminating those actions that are not helping you reach your vision.
Use an 80/20 rule when evaluating your action steps. 80% of your actions should be towards fulfilling your vision and 20% can be distractions. If this seems to be unobtainable from the start, try to start with 65/35 and quickly work your way up.
Try this for 30 days. Be intentional. Evaluate and adjust.
If you obtain progress, then stretch it to 60 days then 90. Celebrate your new habits that you have created towards your vision.
You will be amazed at your progress.
